There are many blogs, which reviews Google’s Chrome OS. But i am not expert to review it :). Here i am just expressing my own understanding on Chrome OS. that is it.
Until November 19, i thought it will be Google version of Linux OS or something more like that. But once the demo released, i couldn’t understand what it is exactly. Is it OS or advanced version of Chrome Browser? It took me some time to understand what it is exactly.
If you are the basic PC user with out internet, then this Chrome OS is not for you. Google also said their initial focus is only for net-book not for note-book and PCs. So for PC and notebook users need to wait for some more time to get their fruit.
Chrome OS is browser based OS and built on top of chrome browser. When you switch on the system you can not expect for usual my computer or that kind of icons in your screen. it just opens the browser from there you need to navigate all over. There is a chrome icon in left upper corner. If you click that link, it will list all your application by then you can start your application. It is more like your start button in your windows OS’s and Linux OS’s.
Chrome Os contains no file system like other OS’s. It uses cloud extensively here. All your personal datas will be stored some where in space. When you start you net-book it will automatically sync from the web. There is an advantage here, you can configure more than one net-books for a single cloud space. so if you change something in one machine, when you start the other, it will automatically sync the changes that made in former. You need to understand cloud computing to understand their underlying process.
There are already many blogs to explain about Cloud computing. So i am not talking much about cloud.
Net-books are made for internet usage. It is striped version of note book, has minimal hardware. So it works fine here. In future if they release it for PCs that too will work fine, i hope. But non-internet users can not taste it.
Windows also has it is own net-book version of windows OS. All OS vendors started their focus on PC and now they are moving towards internet. But Google starts it in their own way. Google starting it from internet. Google tries to change the entire perception about OS. 🙂
Please let me know if i misunderstood..
Dear Deeapn,

Surprised to see the blog on Chrome OS. Simple and superb explanation. Good start. Expecting more like this.
A very crips explaination of Chrome OS.Explanation is also very simple so that any one who is not aware of chrome OS will really get a taste of it.
First of all congratulations on your first blog.
I liked it, as it brought out critical differentiation of Google OS from others. But I personally feel Google is touching a market which Microsoft & Apple were swimming for decades now.
Masses are behind Google, hence this hype will continue but its test of time as Google is relying highly on “Cloud Computing” which is in infant stages on desktop computing.
